Southwest Florida : Home Tours : Gulf Coast Grandeur

An undeniable air of elegance merges with a coastal flair indicative of the true Florida lifestyle in this home created by Collins & DuPont Design Group. The home’s circular paver-lined driveway leads to four single-car bays and immediately welcomes visitors. Natural coral stone cladding on the exterior evokes a beach-like feel.

Working from the ground up with architect Falconer Jones, Kim Collins, ASID and Alina Olinger, Allied ASID of Collins & DuPont designed every aspect of this home’s interior—from elevations, to the detailing, lighting, hard surfaces, and finishes. Collins & DuPont’s full-service design firm includes an in-house CAD department, and offers everything you need to make your design concepts a reality. “Residential design is a very personal industry. We do our best to make this experience easy, fun, and exciting for our clients,” explains Olinger.

The plans drawn up by Falconer Jones and Collins & DuPont were brought to life by BCB Homes. “Our company understands the complexity of building unique, custom homes such as this one,” says Travis Brown of BCB Homes.

The home’s welcoming eat-in kitchen creates an inviting setting for guests to gather. Rattan framed McGuire chairs with hand-woven wicker backs add a touch of texture to the space. Natural quartzite countertops are accentuated by an elaborate hexagonal multi-stone backsplash that incorporates the room’s color palette in shades of sage green, pale mineral, and cerulean blue. Collins & DuPont obtained the tile from a local source, Tile Market of Naples. “Our custom mosaic manufacturer combines multiple different sizes and color combinations to accommodate most everyone’s backsplash, shower, fireplace, or waterline application. Stones are imported from around the world to create dynamic, eye appealing interests to the most discerning clients,” describes Darrin Boylan, owner of Tile Market of Naples.

“The client wanted to incorporate an informal tile mural to remind her of the beach,” explains Collins. To achieve this, Collins and Olinger brought in artist Christine Moore to create an original painting on the distinctive backsplash. This attention to stylistic detail is evident throughout the home. “We pride ourselves on a high level of detail and specification in order to help our clients express their vision,” says Collins.

The tranquil dining room evokes more thoughts of the sea. An Originals 22 chandelier, inspired by underwater coral, creates the perfect tie-in with Holly Hunt draperies featuring an abstract coral print in mineral blues. Stunning selenite crystal candles line the table surrounded by McGuire and Walters wicker chairs, lending to the room’s relaxed and informal feel.

The serene master bath has a luxurious curved tub that flows with the form of the ceiling and is embellished with beautiful mirrored niches. Custom designed marble inlays elevate the room’s elegance. The home boasts two showers, one inside and another private outdoor shower. The room’s quartzite countertop has subtle hues of sea green and blue.

“Private and peaceful, the master bedroom—featuring an impressive vaulted ceiling—offers a welcome retreat from the homeowner’s active lifestyle,” adds Collins. A Century bed and Baker chaise encourage lounging, while the subtle sparkle of a Hart chandelier and sconces create a soothing environment. Cowtan & Tout fabrics continue the indulgence.

The inviting guest suite comes to life with vibrant color. Beautiful shades of mango and pomegranate are accompanied by kiwi and khaki accents. A king-sized Century bed is adorned with Osborne & Little fabrics and flanked by two Woodland night stands. The addition of a wicker chair brings warmth to the space and completes the welcoming atmosphere.

The functional library bridge serves as the homeowner’s office. This room’s pleasing pear wall color is accentuated by custom oak flooring which possesses a varying tonality throughout. Striking pieces, such as the Currey chandelier made of shells and a Lane Venture coral-backed chair, keep the beach theme going. Plentiful built-in shelving provides both form and function.

In this home, one doesn’t just have to imagine what it would feel like to unwind by the waterside. With a sun terrace on top, two mid-level balconies, plus left and right seating areas surrounding the sparkling pool, there are plenty of places to escape the cares of the world. A fully-equipped exercise room sits adjacent and is fitted with motorized shades and draperies.

While the beauty of this home is apparent, what you can’t see is the care taken and innovation used by BCB Homes to provide both aesthetic impact and safety. Located in a flood zone, the entire first floor is constructed with breakaway walls to allow a potential tidal surge to pass under the habitable floors above. The crucial peace of mind provided heightens the enjoyment and relaxation of this gorgeous, well-designed home.
