The Sevilla IV – A World Away

From the moment you turn into the cloistered neighborhood of the Sevilla IV, you feel the aura of another time – a Renaissance of grace and elegance. Every aspect of this Tuscan-inspired villa, Peregrine Homes’ newest model, is carefully planned to evoke a sense of permanence and appreciation for beauty.
Tucked into the prestigious Highfield neighborhood in the private, gated Country Club Village of Sarasota’s preeminent master-planned community, the 7,000-acre Lakewood Ranch, the Sevilla IV is tucked amidst the towering live oaks, palm trees and creeping ferns of this exclusive neighborhood’s pristine nature preserve. This 4,482-square-foot, four-bedroom home evokes Old World grandeur but boasts state-of-the-art amenities.
Cobblestone pavers grace the arcing driveway of the Sevilla IV, leading to its triple-car garage and broad entry plaza, setting the tone for this European-style residence. To one side, an elegant fountain soothes. An abundance of architectural details, including multi-level tile roofs, entry piers with tile inlay and cast stone finials, carved medallions, Corinthian columns and cast-stone balustrades, reminiscent of Ca d’Zan, come together with the lush surroundings for a time-honored look, straight out of the Italian countryside.
In the soaring 25-foot entry tower, 10-foot bronzed doors are capped with an arched transom and accented by fossil stone casing. Enter the Sevilla IV’s foyer and you are even further transported to another world. The tile floor features an inlaid marble medallion, and overhead, a barrel-vaulted ceiling is a trompe l’oeil vision of a Renaissance sky. An elegant, arched niche is faux finished in stone with bronzed border and carved centerpiece. Huge, 20-inch, sandstone-finish porcelain tile is set on the diagonal and sweeps through the living space.
Cast-stone Corinthian columns encircle the adjoining dining room with its architectural buffet. This floor-toceiling alcove features a recessed mirror, arched soffit and twin pillars. A marble border is inlaid into the tile floor defining the open space.
Opposite the foyer, double doors lead to a handsome study overlooking the entry plaza. Here a sculpted accent wall is finished in an aged-stone patina, and a pair of custom-built, richly burnished, cherry bookshelves frames a true partner’s desk crafted of solid black
granite with chiseled edge.
All three of these rooms – the foyer, dining room and study – give way to the stately living room with its massive expanse of curving glass overlooking the covered lanai, the curving swimming pool with its spa and fountains, and the nature preserve beyond. The 18-foot, multi-stepped, deeply coffered ceiling features a sophisticated finish of pale green, creamy off-white and rich cherry grain. A fossil stone fireplace repeats the foyer’s Corinthian columns, and a radius-arched top is trimmed with porcelain and glass inlay. Flanking double-beveled, recessed shelves offer lighted glass shelving for elegant display space.
A spacious butler’s bar serves as a curtain between this formal living room and the open kitchen. Glass-front cherry cabinets in a rich heirloom glaze are suspended above a granite counter. And here, one of the home’s most unusual architectural features, a copper-finished, gracefully arcing groin ceiling, serves to define this space, giving it the quaint intimacy of a little street-side café.
The same deeply glazed cherry cabinets continue into the showplace kitchen of the Sevilla IV. Tapered and carved legs, glass fronts and crown moulding add to the Old World feel of this cabinetry, and granite counters, a copper sink and bronzed fixtures enhance the effect. The backsplash is tiled with glass and porcelain. The island is
finished in a pale celadon with a teak-finish butcher-block counter. The deep tray ceiling soaring above is accented with massive rough-hewn beams.
But for all its venerable ambiance, this kitchen boasts up-to-the-minute fixtures. Cherry panels conceal a 48-inch, built-in refrigerator. Professional-grade appliances include an icemaker, drawer-style dishwasher, wine reserve, Advantium oven, dual-fuel, 48-inch Monogram range and stainless steel warming drawer.
The aura of the Italian countryside continues into the open family room where a wide arch features in its recess an exquisite Portofino mural a window to a charming European waterfront. Another double-beveled niche has space for a largescreen TV and is accented with tile inlay.Twenty-two feet of glass sliders with a disappearing corner, make for a seamless transition between this Old World space and the courtyard-like environs of the cabana and lanai.
The cabana carries the same level of luxurious appointments into the home’s outdoor living space, with porcelain flooring and granite accents, towering columns spanned by gracious arches, pecky cypress inset ceiling beams and a cast stone fireplace surround. Here, there is ample space for preparing gourmet meals in the summer kitchen, dining al fresco and lounging.
An activity room wraps around this splendid outdoor space, complete with fully equipped martini bar and room for pool.
Opposite all of these open spaces for active living, the master suite is an island of privacy and seclusion. A triplestepped octagonal ceiling sets a tone of elegance and a pair of columns frames the raised bay overlooking the pool, with room for lounging and intimate conversation.
His-and-her closets are completely outfitted and lead to the luxuriously appointed master bath. Here sumptuous details abound: marble floors, custom framed mirrors, unique his-and-her cherry cabinets. A marble-walled shower features multiple body sprays and antique brass fixtures. The Roman tub is decked in marble and framed by a curving soffit and a pair of marble-finished columns.
From its stately formal areas, to its Old World living spaces, to its decadent private retreats, Peregrine Homes’ Sevilla IV will transport you.
