Biscay at The Colony:
A Distinctively Designed Estate Home

Biscay is among a select group of distinctive homes in Tuscany Isle at The Colony. While McGarvey Custom Homes is known for blending form and function, Biscay evokes tradition and luxury.
Designed in a European vein of understated elegance, the front of the home features columns, a keystone façade and balconies. A circular drive beyond graceful palms leads to glass doors framed in mahogany. Arched windows create an attractive impression and welcome natural light.
The foyer and grand salon are defined by soaring, coffered ceilings and views. Seen at the entrance, the dramatic two-story window in the grand salon leads the eye into the path of the pool, spa, lake and golf course beyond. The spacious living area has a fireplace with keystone mantel and lit recessed niches framed with moulding and custom woodwork.A wet bar with upholstered seating has granite countertops and painted cabinetry. An oak stairway with wrought iron spindles and oak rails is a focal point.
Gallery hallways on either side of the grand salon benefit from windows down the length of one and a recessed art niche at the end of another. Arched entryways soften transitions throughout this grand estate.
Biscay’s formal dining room features a coffered ceiling trimmed with crown moulding. Eight high-back upholstered chairs, heavy silk draperies and a wood table promote the traditional ambiance. Double sets of French doors open to a front terrace.
With traditional walnut cabinetry, contemporary hardware and stainless steel appliances, the kitchen is a blend of old and new. Multiple preparation areas include an island with sink, wrap-around counters, considerable storage and a wine cellar. Granite countertops and a cultured marble backsplash extend around three sides of the room, and an elevated peninsula provides seating for three. Viking appliances include two under-counter ovens and a gas range.
The kitchen opens to a family entertainment area with comfortable leather sofas and a dining alcove for six; both enjoy views of the pool pavilion and lake beyond. The family entertainment area has a vaulted ceiling.
Zero-corner pocketing doors open to an outdoor pavilion that includes a summer kitchen with counter seating and multiple seating arrangements. The pool features stepping stones to the other side and more seating and lounging accommodations. The travertine marble with natural finish used throughout the home’s more formal living rooms, blends with marble with chiseled edges in the family rooms and pool pavilion and contributes to the seamless transition from inside to outdoors.
Just off of this generous outdoor living and dining area, the detached cabana is a private retreat with morning kitchen and a large walk-in closet for guests. This getaway includes a full bath with pocketing doors and private access; a convenient pool bath for all.
Comprising one wing of the home, the master bedroom suite is a luxurious getaway with a morning kitchen, large his and her walk-in closets and a generous master bathroom.
The master bedroom enjoys a soaring ceiling finished with tiers of crown moulding, a seating area with upholstered armchairs and French door access to the pool. The bed and an armoire are set in recessed niches. An arched mirrored wall behind the upholstered headboard adds light and dimension to the comfortable setting. The room features silk coverlet and draperies and a color palette of soft sage, camel and faint gold.
His and her vanities and water closets, and a Roman tub with generous marble surround give the bathroom the feeling of a spa. Appointments such as columns, richly veined jade green marble, walnut cabinetry and stone trim lend an Old World ambiance. A Palladian window with custom shutters fills this sanctuary with natural light during the day and ensures privacy at night.
Adjacent to the master bedroom suite is the library, a room designed in a dignified manner with wood floor, woven grass cloth wallpaper, custom bookcases on two sides and a coffered ceiling. McGarvey Custom Homes is a company known for paying exceptional attention to detail, and this room is no exception. French doors on both ends make this a setting where an occasional afternoon will be spent reading a book in the armchair with feet up on the ottoman and doors open to enjoy the calming sounds of the nearby pool’s spa and fountain.
The home features two additional guest bedroom suites on the second floor, each with its own walk-in closet and full bath. One enjoys a balcony and the other overlooks the lake and golf course. Both have access to a second-floor loft seating area for television or views of Florida’s finest scenery.
Biscay is defined by features such as granite countertops, marble vanity tops (even in guest bedroom suites), crown moulding and recessed niches throughout. Many of the home’s windows are shaded with floor length, heavy silk draperies, and just as many have Plantation shutters. French doors and multiple levels of windows fill the home with light. Walk-in closets feature built-in closet systems.
The laundry has Whirlpool’s Duet side-loading washer and dryer, a deep sink and a dog shower.
Biscay features 5,360 square feet of air-conditioned space. With the veranda, three-car garage, entry and side courtyard, total space is 7,619 square feet. The home’s design features four bedrooms with full baths and a powder room.
Biscay is located in The Colony Golf & Bay Club in Bonita Springs, an 809-acre, award-winning WCI community that benefits from Estero Bay and nature preserves. World-class amenities include Hyatt Resort and Spa facilities plus use of Raptor Bay, an 18-hole Raymond Floyd course that holds the distinction of being the world’s first resort golf course with Audubon International Gold Signature Sanctuary certification.
