Kitchen
Facelift
A beautiful kitchen makes a statement and beautiful
countertops put the exclamation point on that statement. Today’s
homeowners are updating their kitchens to show off their personal style.
A beautiful solid surface countertop or an expanse of shiny granite can
give the kitchen and instant facelift. Michael Beasley, owner of Distinctive
Surfaces, Inc. has over twenty years experience in the industry, following
in his father’s footsteps.
While natural, earthy tones are most popular withhomeowners, recent trends
have shown that homeowners wanting to make a personal statement in their
home can indulge in bold, unusual colors including bright red, deep purple
countertops or nautical blue.
Beasley says that over the past several years, engineered stone products
have increased in popularity with homeowners who are looking to upgrade
their kitchens. Composed of 93 percent quartz, these man-made stones resemble
granite but are non-porous and never have to be sealed, unlike granite
that needs to be sealed every six months to a year. Beasley gives the
example of a red wine spill on a granite surface. “If a cat jumps
on the counter and knocks over a glass of red wine, it could seep into
the granite and cause a permanent stain if the granite is not sealed.
If the same thing happens on an engineered stone countertop, it wouldn’t
stain.”
As far as cost goes, “It’s a matter of what you want in the
kitchen," says Beasley. "Engineered stone is more expensive
than Corian™, but can be comparable with level-one granite.”
The Zodiaq line of engineered stone boasts over forty colors for clients
to choose from, and has an offering for even the most discriminating client.
While Corian, a solid surface countertop that is available in a multitude
of colors, is still popular in Southwest Florida, granite is steadily
becoming the countertop of choice for local homeowners. “Granite
has become more and more popular in recent years, more so than Corian,”
explains Beasley.
Distinctive Surfaces houses 200 slabs of granite in their most popular
colors on-hand to streamline the process for homeowners. Clients can walk
in and see the actual slab that will eventually become their smooth, luxurious
countertop.
Beasley, and his team of more than thirty employees, specialize in fabrication
and installation of Corian, Zodiaq™, Silestone™, Cambria™,
granite, and other non-traditional countertop surfaces such as marble
and Travertine. “We have a 7-to-10 day turnaround for Corian, and
a 7-to-12 day turnaround for stone, if we have it in stock,” says
Beasley. “Once the clients have their cabinets delivered, we can
get right in and finish up their kitchen.”
Distinctive Surfaces takes pride in providing excellent craftsmanship,
custom detailing, fast delivery and affordable pricing. Beasley and his
team work with the clients’ schedule and their needs. “If
we say we’re going to be there at 9:00, we’ll be there at
9:00. I can’t tell you how many times homeowners are surprised that
we’ve shown up at appointed times.”
Not only does Distinctive Surfaces work with individual homeowners on
both new construction and renovations, but they also work with local builders
and cabinet designers, allowing for seamless installation and less downtime
for the homeowner.
Distinctive Surfaces prides itself on its professionalism, attention to
deal and client care. Thousands of satisfied clients from Tampa to Naples
can’t be wrong.
