The Founders Club:
A Passion for Perfection

In their eternal quest to take Sarasota residential development to the next level, Jay Tallman and Tom Brown of U.S. Assets Group have joined forces with industry veteran, Fred Starling of the Starling Group to build and develop The Founders Club, an exclusive 700-acre golf community on what was once a thriving Southwest Florida cattle ranch, three miles east of I-75.
Lauded for creating well-defined, luxury lifestyle properties in Florida, including: Orchid Beach Club on Lido Key, en Provence on Longboat Key and Beau Ciel in downtown Sarasota, U.S. Assets Group has the flawless reputation to deliver the highest level of quality, thus assuring homeowners the quintessential lifestyle experience.
According to Ian Fetigan, general manager of The Founders Club, “The development team’s uncompromising demand for perfection in every facet of the project ensures that every single detail has been studied, evaluated and carefully planned. A buyer can feel extremely comfortable knowing that every detail has been considered in developing this property.”
The Founders Club promises to be one of the most luxurious and sought-after addresses in Sarasota County with exclusive ownership limited to only 262 residences and 275 equity golf memberships. The distinguished list of preferred homebuilders further demonstrates the developers’ commitment to excellence. Homebuyers can choose from one of six exceptional builders, including: John Cannon Homes, Marc Rutenberg Homes, Lee Wetherington Homes, Pruett Builders, Inc., Taylor Woodrow Homes and Todd Johnston Homes, to build their dream home on lots ranging in size from 80- to 160-feet wide.
Every home site at The Founders Club will have unparalleled views of wetland preserves or lakes or any one of several incomparable golf course vistas. Of the 262 available lots, the developer has reserved 108 magnificent Estate Lots for custom homes to be built by one of the four exclusive Estate homebuilders.
Because the goal is to create an architecturally stimulating and timeless environment, strict architectural design guidelines have been set to encourage traditional Florida architecture in lieu of the more typical “Florida Mediterranean” style.
In keeping with the architectural theme of the project, the 21,000-square-foot clubhouse has been designed in a traditional “low country” style with a separate cart and caddie facility and an expansive 4,000-quare-foot veranda overlooking the oak-canopied 18th green of the Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed course. Golf club members will enjoy a state-of-the-art fitness center with CyBex“ equipment, a full-service pro shop and scrumptious dining experiences.
“With the first professional caddie programs in Sarasota, we are encouraging the walking experience of the game,” says Fetigan, who notes that members will enjoy the convenience of having no set starting times.
With the exception of the 13 maintenance-free golf “cottages,” which back up to the 10th hole, membership to The Founders Golf Club is not mandatory for homeowners. The club is offering a limited number of invitational golf memberships to non-residents, which are recallable in three years at the original purchase price. Depending upon resident demand for equity memberships, some of the invitational memberships may be offered as equity memberships in the future.
As with every aspect of the project, extraordinary thought has been given to how the landscaping – common areas, golf course and individual home sites – will enhance the splendor of The Founders Club. The developers strived to maintain the integrity of the land by incorporating hundreds of existing mature oak trees in the insightful planning of the indigenous landscape design.
“Everyone involved with The Founders Club has this incredible passion to make the vision a reality,” says Fetigan. “The developers, builders, sales and golf club staff, as well as the homeowners and members, also ‘own’ this passion. The heart of The Founders Club centers around creating traditions within our community.”
