Illuminating
Life
Today’s designs in
home décor are wide and varied. While some show a deeply traditional
heritage, others display a transitional blend of many influences. Contemporary
designs are just as popular with their smooth, clean balance. However,
this wasn’t always the case.
In the early 1800s, the Betty Lamp with its four wicks, a
pick to dig in the fuel and a spike that allowed it to be attached to
a wall was a prelude to the invention of the light bulb by Thomas A. Edison
in his Fort Myers laboratory. So it seems only natural that the best lighting
and fan store in the area, The Lighting Depot, is located in the city
of Edison’s success. Andrew and Charles Bebber, brothers and 20-year
residents of Southwest Florida, purchased The Lighting Depot in 1997.
Having previously managed and operated the Fort Myers retail store for
its Miami-based lighting and fan distributor, the Bebber brothers had
been well groomed since high school in all aspects of the business.
Voted “The Best Lighting and Fan Store” in the
area by the annual Fort Myers News-Press readers’ poll for five
consecutive years, The Lighting Depot, with its 5,000 square feet of retail
floor space, displays 200 ceiling fans in a wide variety of styles, as
well as 300 chandeliers for the customer’s viewing pleasure.
Crediting a portion of The Lighting Depot’s success
to an exploding residential construction industry in Lee County, the Bebber
brothers can also readily name several other elements that allow them
to stand out in the crowd of retailers offering similar items. At the
top of the list is the exceptional personalized customer service offered
in addition to the well-stocked store replete with top-of-the-line products
and national brands. After enjoying 15 years of continued growth and success
in the same location, the Bebbers anticipate that within the next two
years they will be building a new and larger showroom in order to keep
up with the growing demand for unique lighting and ceiling fans, as well
as the changing trends in the industry.
On top of the game when it comes to keeping up with the latest
developments in lighting and ceiling fans, The Lighting Depot caters to
today’s fashionably chic trends in interior decorating. Still in
vogue after several years are the tropical African, Tommy Bahama and Key
West styles with a new twist – ceiling fans and lighting fixtures
that match furniture.
At The Lighting Depot, furnishing friendly lighting to complement
the latest trends in furniture styles applies across the lighting fixture
spectrum, beginning at the pendant light in the foyer through to the grand
chandelier for the dining room, drop pendant lights for the kitchen bar,
smaller chandelier for the breakfast nook, wall sconces for the hallway
and even matching lights for the bathroom. Though all items are not on
display in each style, a “family card” is attached to each
fixture, and catalogues show each matching or complementing item in the
group.
The Lighting Depot also keeps pace with the latest designer
trend in ceiling fans, a mix and match variety of fan motors and blades
shipped from the manufacturer separately. Both motor and blades can be
purchased in a plethora of colors and styles. The more common utility
fans are also available.
No matter the mood you are looking to achieve, The Lighting
Depot will help you achieve it in style.
