Shades of Blue

Just minutes from the pristine beaches of the Gulf of Mexico, as well as from the shops and restaurants of both The Promenade at Bonita Bay and the new Coconut Point center in Estero, Azure, a 26-story, luxury high-rise condominium tower in Bonita Bay, is the most recent achievement in The Lutgert Companies’ impressive portfolio of luxury residences. Azure homeowners enjoy the superlative services and finest amenities, for which The Lutgert Companies are renowned.

Interior designer, Gary David Niethamer, A.S.I.D. of Gary David Designs in Bonita Springs, was commissioned to design one of the exquisite residences.

Entering the home through a private elevator vestibule, preceding the foyer, one is immediately awestruck by the gorgeous décor and spaciousness of the residence. With three expansive terraces, two of which border the main living space, a picture-perfect view of the Gulf of Mexico, Estero Bay and Bonita Beach is guaranteed from every room.

When designing the residence, Niethamer chose an eclectic mix of contemporary and transitional designs with a touch of the tropics. Throughout the public areas of the home, a chiseled edged Saturnia stone covers all the floors in a beautiful Versailles pattern. The majority of the walls are faux painted in a mottled process, blending shades of cream, ivory, yellow and gold.

The living room was designed in a transitional manner to portray a dressier ambiance. Sitting a top an organically inspired, hand-woven and antiqued Turkish rug in shades of yellow, cream and vermillion, the room’s intimate arrangement of furniture is positioned to take advantage of both the views, as well as the coziness of the gas fireplace-a special feature found in all Azure residences. The ebony coffee table and silk plaid drapery panels add a contemporary note to the room. A pair of decorative demilune chests and hand painted screens flanks either side of the fireplace, which has been finished with a stone-like texture.

In order to tie the living and dining rooms together, the designer used a similar color palette, as well as like fabrics and wood finishes.

The fully integrated kitchen, with its gorgeous Giallo Veneziano countertops and abundant alder wood, spice-stained cabinetry, opens up into the dining room through a large pass-through. The ceiling’s bronzed metallic finish is a variation of the ceiling detail also seen in the dining room, foyer and elevator vestibule. The kitchen’s pendant light is also similar to the lighting fixtures used in the foyer and vestibule.

An expansive high-bar separates the kitchen and family room, where the walls are faux finished in a mottled khaki shade with a darker, but similarly colored tray ceiling. Although the room has a transitional feel, Niethamer used a botanical-themed fabric for the window valence and decorative throw pillows, as well as a three piece, down-filled sectional sofa and a variation of a Louis XVI chair in an effort to add a contemporary feel to the room.

Two guest rooms with adjoining baths enjoy total privacy behind the kitchen and family room. One room has been designed as a den with a deliciously upholstered, khaki-colored leather sofa bed and a custom designed storage and shelving system, which is hidden by a series of Shoji-inspired screens.

The room’s basket-weave grass cloth walls are in perfect harmony with the hand-scraped, distressed walnut flooring. The same woven grass cloth was inserted into the wood-trimmed Shoji doors. Decorative linen pillows and a matching window valance in shades of chocolate brown, cinnabar, green and gold add a tropical flavor to the room, which also has access to an expansive terrace.

The master suite is a rhapsody of pale yellow and ivory hues. Sun-kissed yellow and creamy ivory drapery panels frame the windows and sliding glass doors, which lead out onto an expansive balcony. The room’s custom designed platform bed – headboard and frame – are covered in a textured gold and gray fabric, which ties in nicely with the silky yellow and gray soft bedding ensemble.

The master bath is a study in soft, nuanced shades of white and cream. The floor, countertops, tub deck and shower walls are all sheathed in a natural Navonna travertine stone to complement the spice-finished alder wood cabinetry. The incredible panoramic views are twice as spectacular since they are reflected in the adjacent mirror.

At this time, all Azure residences have been sold. Currently, sales are underway for Esperia South, which is slated for completion later this year, as well as for Esperia North and Tavira.
