The Perfect Size

VOne of the most appealing characteristics of Titan Custom Homes’ Grande Cypress model is its size. Located in the Bella Lago neighborhood of Briarwood in Naples, the home, with its stunning façade and abundant exterior detailing, is sized just right for a growing family or for the empty nester. From the outside, the home conveys a more intimate façade than most homes of the same genre; but once inside, the largesse and scope of the well designed home is immediately apparent.

Extensive cast stone detailing and a pair of ornate columns on either side of the front portal precede the double, nine-foot tall, arched mahogany doors with custom designed, wrought iron grills.Repetition of design elements, such as arched doorways, windows and hallways prevail throughout the home. Subtle touches, like the three-panel, solid core wood doors with an arched top panel, serve to reconfirm the builder’s astute attention to detail.

Interior designer, Christina Porter Forbes, ASID, of Accessories, Etc. in Bonita Springs was instrumental in the materials selections process, as well as in designing the interiors of the home.

To the right of the foyer, a magnificent brass chandelier with huge crystal teardrops hangs from the dining room’s two-story ceiling. The focal point of the room is the Gothic-inspired ceiling detail, which consists of an ornate configuration of wood beams set against a deeply glazed metallic ceiling.

Taking into account the open floor plan, the builder chose to visually separate the spaces by adding myriad architectural details, such as the double coffered and crowned ceilings that separate the butler’s pantry, parlor and dining room from one another.

Additional flooring details, like the border of mini mosaic chips that was set in a circular pattern to mimic the shape of the dining room and placing a similar border between each of the common areas, also serves to differentiate the spatiality of the rooms.

Perfectly situated between the dining room, kitchen and parlor, the spacious butler’s pantry, with its large arched opening, extended granite high bar and extensive custom millwork makes an impressive statement. In addition to having a separate refrigerator and temperature-controlled wine cooler, the room boasts generous storage space.

The parlor faces toward the breathtakingly beautiful pool and outdoor living area through a five-panel mitered window wall. Flanked on either side by two decorative pillars, the room has an extremely high, metallic-glazed coffered ceiling with extensive crown detailing, which adds to the overall ambiance.

The focal point of the parlor is the beautifully carved, keystone gas fireplace. The eye-catching, double stone arch and mirror design above the mantle is enhanced by two side niches, which are backed with intricately carved cast stone inserts.

The kitchen has a complete GE Monogram stainless package, which includes a five-burner gas stovetop. The focus of the kitchen is the hand-stenciled decorative hood, which is flanked on either side by a duo of seeded glass-fronted, maple-stained cabinets. With more than enough storage space and granite countertops for food preparation, the kitchen is a chef’s dream come true.

Adjacent to the kitchen is an intimate breakfast nook that looks out onto the pool deck through a pair of mitered windows. Throughout the breakfast area and gathering room, linen valances are enhanced with decorative, hand-carved wood panels, from which linen drapery panels gently fall to the floor. The resulting effect is that the window treatments seemingly frame the large sliding glass doors that open up onto the covered lanai and ensuing pool and spa.

The Grande Cypress floor plan includes two guest rooms with corresponding baths, and a study. The study, with its natural bamboo flooring and grass cloth walls, is accessible through a pair of arched, mahogany doors. All of the millwork, including the door and window casing, windowsill, floorboards and crown moulding is painted a palpable shade of moss green, reinforcing the room’s tropical theme.

Adjacent to the study, a door leads out to the summer kitchen and loggia, which has a beautiful pecky cypress ceiling. Turkish marble, cut with a chiseled edge and laid in a herringbone pattern, was used to cover the entire pool deck, which is enhanced by several planters that were built into the deck area next to the fountain and pool.

Passing through an intimate vestibule, the master suite is in close proximity to the parlor and foyer. The spacious and elegant room opens up onto the covered lanai through a series of sliding glass doors. The double-coffered, backlit ceiling, with its extensive crown moulding complements the custom designed, decorative niche that appears to float above the bed.

Continuing down an arched hallway toward the master bath, one passes the separate his-and-hers walk-in closets, as well as a full-length mirror that has been cleverly set inside a floor-to-ceiling niche.

The master bath, with its soft, golden-hued walls and hand-painted stenciling, has a tremendous circular tub, which is accented on one side by three tall, multi-paned windows. Rich, cherry stained cabinets complement the deeply-veined Breccia Oniciata marble that was used for the vanity countertops and tub surround and skirt. A mullioned window located inside the large walk-in shower lets profuse additional light into the room through the shower’s large mitered window wall.

With it’s abundant architectural detailing, idyllic setting and beautifully decorated interiors, it’s not surprising to learn that the Grande Cypress was selected by the Collier Building Industry Association to be the 2006 Parade of Homes Showcase Home.
