Quality Craftsmanship Defined

Whether building those mahogany library shelves or custom cherry cabinetry to complete your dream kitchen, having custom millwork or cabinetry created is an option more and more people are considering. Ceilings can be brought alive with definition, eye appeal can be added to walls and floors, living area’s more clearly defined and character added to all areas of a home or office.

Such is the business of Naples Custom Cabinets & Millwork. Owner Steve Weichelt explains. “The key to creating that special, one-of-a-kind environment starts with a design concept tailored to meet your specific needs and desires. Whether you employ the expertise of an architect, decorator, or utilize our knowledgeable and highly skilled in-house design team, you can be assured of receiving not only award-winning designs, but a superior product tailor-made, finished and installed by our own in-house craftsman.”

Quality workmanship, design excellence and first-rate customer service are three important reasons customers choose Naples Custom Cabinets & Millwork, as is their expertise in creating minor miracles on their lathes - from coffered ceilings to kitchens, entertainment centers, custom offices and libraries, to wet bars and dry bars, pop-up TV cabinets and fireplace surrounds, this talented crew lends their magic to all facets of your home.

“This company has worked hard toward this end for the past 12 years, garnering praise and recognition from designers, builders, and customers throughout Southwest Florida,” points out Weichelt.

“As a Florida general contractor with state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, Naples Custom Cabinets & Millwork is comprised of a dedicated group of employees led by highly-skilled and knowledgeable craftsman. We offer a wide variety of products and services - from complete remodels to one-of-a-kind custom crafted cabinets and detailed millwork, to general contracting services,” Weichelt adds. He explains that his company maintains complete control over all aspects of its operation, from offering in-house design capabilities to providing unique custom finishes and professional installation.

“From homes to high-rises, Naples Custom Cabinets & Millwork excels in all endeavors of the trade, from manufacturing to general contracting,” Weichelt said. “The company is a one-stop opportunity for all of your custom cabinets and woodworking needs.” And, no job is too large or too small for Naples Custom Cabinets & Millwork.

“We’ve done jobs in the $750,000 range and we’ve cut down table legs and such for the proverbial little old lady for free,” Weichelt pointed out. “I’ve also made simple cuts for people and haven’t charged them and they’ve turned around and given us substantial jobs. We are honest and we pride ourselves with that knowledge.”

Weichelt praises his creative staff, who are able to achieve “infinite possibilities that capture the mind and deliver eye appealing designs.” His team of professionals has the ability to satisfy the most demanding client, and takes pride in working directly with individual homeowners - of town homes, villas, estate homes and high-rise residences. The company generally does work in the immediate Southwest Florida Gulf Coast area, but has shipped products to other parts of Florida and other states, and even to the Caribbean.

A native of Highland Park, Illinois, Weichelt started his business 14 years ago, having learned the trade from a neighbor who had a custom cabinetry and millwork shop. His partner, John Ervin, has been a general contractor for more than 15 years.

“I had been working as a writer and finally said, ‘I’d had enough and wanted to work more with my hands,” Weichelt points out. Now, though, owning and managing his own company leaves Weichelt little time (or desire) to work in the shop or in the field, although he knows exactly what and how everything works from the inside out - from design to construction to finishing and installation.

“There is a lot to know in this business. We’re a complete company, offering it all in our field, which is something fairly rare; either you’re a contractor or a cabinetmaker,” he says. “ But by combining the two, we can offer a more compact product.”

When he moved to Naples about 24 years ago, Weichelt bought and lived on a 31 - foot sailboat. “That was fun, but not practical,” he commented. “We sold the boat and bought our house 21 years ago. It was a very good move, value - wise.”

Years from now, Weichelt envisions himself sailing away to the Caribbean on a 48-foot sloop and dropping anchor in St. Lucia.

In the immediate future, he simply plans to continue to grow Naples Custom Cabinets & Millwork, expanding the company’s capabilities as it grows.

“I want to add capacity through new equipment and continue training our men to excel in everything they do,” Weichelt says.
