Faux
Finish Makes Illusion Beautiful
In
this world where artistry meets architecture, Joe
Rairick of Hightide Custom Painting and Faux Design
spends his days creating beautiful and elegant
interiors in some of Southwest Florida’s most
magnificent homes. Fine wood finishes such as bird’s eye
maple, burled mahogany, and the use of raised and
embedded techniques create dimensional designs that
cast a shimmering veil of color—and yet these are but a sampling
of the applications available.
Artfully
combining seamlessly painted woodwork, mixed with the clever use of crown
mouldings and
designer doors, Rairick can add depth and value to
any space—like by his use of an exquisitely textured
metallic-gold luminous finish on a coffered ceiling.
With
a keen eye for color and texture, and the ability to understand it’s
importance, Rairick says, “New
ideas come from everywhere...from my interest in architecture,
the patterns found in stone structures, from various tiles,
or the look of leather, or from a priceless antique, even
from nature’s designs found at the seashore. As an artist,
I have options to incorporate the elements of nature
into wonderful dimensional designs.”
Rairick adds, “The
patterns I design will uniquely fulfill the vision I have seen for my
client. I follow my creative
promptings to expressively personalize each room.
There’s a look I’m after in the face and eyes of my client,
that words cannot express. I want my clients to
anticipate that something irresistible is awaiting them.”
