Enhancing
a Homeowner’s Quality of Life
Armed
with a wealth of experience and a principles of design wand that is chock-full
of creativity and knowledge of space planning and textiles, in addition
to materials and furnishings, wizards of wonder – more commonly
known as interior designers – are turning Southwest Florida’s
interior and exterior living areas into functional and harmonious living
spaces.
If ever you have pondered
the possibility of an ounce of truth in the age-old platitudes “jewelry
makes the woman” and “clothes make the man,” then surely
there a principles of design wand that is chock-full of creativity and
knowledge of space planning and textiles, in addition to materials and
furnishings, wizards of wonder – more commonly known as interior
designers – are turning Southwest Florida’s interior and exterior
living areas into functional and harmonious living spaces.
If ever you have pondered
the possibility of an ounce of truth in the age-old platitudes “jewelry
makes the woman” and “clothes make the man,” then surely
there must be more than a pound of certainty to the idea that highly qualified
interior designers make comfortable homes. More than just a cliché,The
American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) advises that a professionally
trained interior designer, qualified through education and experience,
is capable of examining, identifying, researching and creatively resolving
issues that can lead to a healthier, safer and more comfortable physical
environment.
Embracing the responsibility
of enhancing a homeowner’s quality of life by creating beautiful
and comfortable surroundings, Jinx McDonald of Jinx McDonald Designs,
Inc. relies on her instincts for subtle details and on her uncanny ability
to listen between the sentences her clients use to describe what they
want. For instance when a client says they appreciate Barbara Barry designs,
McDonald also hears, “I like more sophisticated and sleek lines.”
Specializing in creating
interiors that allow people to enjoy their life and to be comfortable
in their own living space, McDonald says, “Experience has taught
me that to accomplish this and to design interiors that make a statement
about the client, I need to ferret out minute details that most people
won’t willingly offer up. I know I have tapped a treasure trove
of information when clients open up and tell me that they enjoy having
their morning coffee in their pajamas.”
In McDonald’s comfort
equation, science and math are just as important as function. “When
I am observing a client’s body I’m thinking about the physical
proportions and visualizing the best dimensions for a sofa or chairs,”
McDonald says.“I want my clients to have furnishings that don’t
just look good and make for good conversational flow when entertaining.
I want them to have furnishings that allow for their physical comfort
and relaxation.”
Utilizing exemplary talents
and skills for designing sanctuaries that soothe the soul since age 17,
McDonald turned a hobby that fed her own heart and soul into a profession.
From a diversity of in-depth work experience she brings a unique perspective,
a no-frills approach and an award-winning (Sand Dollar, Pinnacle, Home
Fest and Designs of Distinction) background to her Naples clientele that
she and her staff of eight – which includes three licensed interior
designers – serve from her design studio on Naples Boulevard.
“Most people put
interior designers up on a pedestal because they think the business is
glamorous and pretentious,” concludes McDonald. “Truthfully,
this is a very technical and detail-oriented business. It may surprise
most people to know that I’m happiest when I am given an opportunity
to remove the pretentiousness from any room.”
