Inc.’s Renoir model home, located in the Marsala community

feet of living space including four bedrooms-plus-den and
five-and-a-half-baths, encompasses all of the standard features
contained in every Distinctive Communities home including
volume ceilings, Clerestory windows, multimedia, satellite
and home office wiring, an in-home communication system,
security system and a custom designed pool.
“Our company
has long been recognized by the artisans we have on staff.
Each member of our creative team helps to skillfully craft
each home we build,” says Distinctive Communities
Vice-President, David Sturdyvin.
Designed by Stofft
Cooney Architects, the home features a covered archway leading
to the double entry doors, a Juliette balcony, and a two-story
staircase window. Lana Knapp, senior designer at Collins
& DuPont Interiors, sought to design interiors that
were both elegant and delightful.
The entry doors
open onto the dramatic two-story foyer with its stunning
staircase. Distinctive’s generous use of crown moulding
and recessed lighting makes a powerful first impression.
A sofa table inlaid with ebony, mahogany, zebrawoods and
mother-of-pearl is placed behind one of a pair of couches
in the living room.
In the living
room, cherry hardwood floors are complemented by the pale
light cream wall color, while the lavish use of white crown
moulding lends an elegant touch. The two traditional sofas
are covered in a soft beige textured fabric and are given
a pop of color by the placement of floral and striped accent
pillows. The focal point of the room is the gas-burning
fireplace with its carved surround, flanked by two mirrored
alcoves. Knapp uses a mix of hardwood tables in the room,
as well as two pairs of lamps - one featuring bronze and
gold stacking boxes with oriental detail, and the other
rounded bronze lamps embossed with raised gold leaves. Hand-printed
linen drapery panels incorporate cool shades of coral and
pale green. A bronze wrought iron chandelier hangs from
a decorative rosette in the coffered ceiling.
The formal dining
room boasts a coffered ceiling, three entrance arches graced
by two white columns and decorative border with inset diagonal
laid travertine. The maple dining table seats eight. The
dining chairs are cherry-finished maple, covered in textured
chenille with a turned metal crossbar at the back. At the
windows, a silk valance incorporates rich gold, khaki green
and salmon tones. A graceful brushed bronze chandelier with
glass beads hangs from a ceiling medallion.
The leisure room
offers stunning views of the pool area through French doors
and picture windows hung with plaid drapery panels in raspberry,
green and butter yellow. An ivory glazed built-in entertainment
center offers display space. Window seat cushions are covered
in a grassy green and yellow fabric. The sofa is flanked
by two carved maple armchairs upholstered in a Pindler and
Pindler damask based on a pattern from the Hearst Castle
collection. Two cane and carved wood chairs repeat the room's
signature colors. Dual paddle fans, hanging from the coffered
ceiling offer a Caribbean influence.
The maple cabinets
in the kitchen feature rich moulding detail, brushed nickel
pulls and tongue-and-groove detail at the range hood and
the face of the eating bar. Carved maple stools grace the
eating bar, above which hang hand-blown glass Oggetti pendant
lamps. The counter tops and center island feature Imperial
Gold granite, while stone mosaics are placed at the back
of the range and the backsplashes. The kitchen includes
Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances. Lighted glass front display
cabinets and the lighted niches with wrought iron panels
add charm to the room. Pull out spice racks and a nearby
wet bar offer the chef great convenience.
The dining nook
table features chairs upholstered in a chenille fabric in
tones of blue, raspberry, green and gold, colors repeated
in the valances. A fanciful crystal and gold iron chandelier
embellished with beads completes the effect.
The study's mocha
walls are the perfect backdrop to the maple built-ins A
camel back sofa features bronze nail head detail. Two end
tables sport lamps painted with leaves and parrots. The
pair of arch top windows feature swag valences with longer
jabots.
The fresh light-colored
walls of the master bedroom are accented by cool green accent
paint in the tray ceiling and the niche. The cherry wood
Maitland Smith four-poster bed features a celery green coverlet
and shams in colorful shades of salmon and green. In the
sitting area, an armchair is covered in a raspberry diamond
cut chenille fabric. Framing the windows are soft swag valences
in a plaid pattern. A mahogany paddle fan, with leaf blades
cools the room.
The master bath
features floors and a tub surround in golden-hued granite.
Glazed cabinetry and a walk-in shower with rain head fixture
offer the latest in luxury. Crackled paper on the walls
features a subtle ironwork design.
The pale yellow
walls of the downstairs guest bedroom provide the backdrop
for the charming iron bed. Hardwood nightstands and an armoire
boast hand-painted detail and a pale green and gold Gesso
finish. Drapery panels in yellow linen with a raspberry
floral print add a splash of color.
Outside the covered
entertaining space features a tongue-and-groove cypress
ceiling with exposed beams and a pre-cast gas-burning fireplace.
The television is hidden above the fireplace mantle in a
built-in cabinet with tongue and groove doors. A decorative
stone wall fountain and wicker look seating complete the
space. The lagoon swimming pool with paver deck features
a raised spa with spill-over water feature. Tropical landscaping
and rock accents add a finished look.
The outdoor kitchen
with granite counter includes a Wolf Sub-zero grille, sink,
refrigerator and built-in drawer/cabinet storage. Brushed
metal bar stools feature sage green seat cushions.
Distinctive Communities' Renoir
model blends comfort and luxury in equal measure. The result
is a distinctive home that embraces the very best elements
of tropical living.
