Classic Yet Comfortable

Located in the estates section of Grey Oaks Country Club, the Mediterranean-inspired Villa Brunello is a courtyard home offering 5,307 square feet of living space under air. Built by Landmark Development Group, the interior design is by Landmark Design. Landmark wanted the theme of the home to be both classic and comfortable and used various shades of gold and red throughout the home to add both warmth and luxury to the space.

That luxury begins at the Villa Brunello’s front entrance, where custom designed iron entry gates greet the visitor and brings them either to the front door of the home or to the elegant courtyard floored in sand-set tumbled marble.

Entering the home through the front entry door, the visitor will find themselves in an entry rotunda featuring an understated faux paint treatment on the walls and ceiling. The home features Saturna stone floors throughout. Elaborate wall sconces and chandeliers provide a contrast to the homes’ spectacular furnishings, which feature rich mahogany finishes paired with Italian accessories, creating a lush pairing of two elegant Old World styles.

The walls of the gracious living room have been finished in a pale golden wash and the impressive baronial fireplace 4 introduces Tuscan influences. Carved wooden chests with embossed hardware flank the fireplace and above them hang heraldic crests and sunburst mirrors which lend the space symmetrical rhythm. Red accents appear throughout the

spacious room as seen in the windows where custom drapes in a red and gold striped silk add drama. The seating in this room was intended for comfort and the space is at once luxurious yet casual enough for intimate entertaining. An overstuffed, deep-backed sofa and chairs were used to balance the height of the ceiling. The sofa is covered in pale gold chenille and the carved Italian chairs are upholstered on the front with a gold and red stripe, while their backs feature a fabric with a paisley design. The iron coffee and end tables were designed by Landmark Design for the room and display clean yet traditional lines. The cast iron lantern with its intricate scroll work and seeded glass provides another focal point in the room.

The formal dining room is entered through an architectural arch and features a glass-topped dining table with a stone base. The Tuscan influenced dining chairs are upholstered, with the head chairs done in one of the fabrics from the living room, while the side chairs feature a rich gold fabric. Red accents appear in the stone border on the floor and in the four panel Italian screen that hangs on one wall. A buffet stands on the opposite wall with an antique gold mirror above while the distinctive antique gold chandelier boasts ornate scroll work and lead crystal drops.

The master bedroom is detailed with elegant architectural elements, including a tray ceiling with crown moulding trim, walls that have been faux painted in a pale gold stripe and French doors which open to a rear terrace and afford lake views. The unique bed features a headboard upholstered in rich velvet and is complimented by a gold silk bedspread. The custom window treatments are done in a gold silk fabric with red silk banding and are topped by a soft valance. An elegant bench stands at the foot of the bed, while two lounge chairs with an ottoman between them are covered in a pale gold chenille fabric. The floral artwork in the room has been custom painted to match the colors in the room and a custom crystal chandelier finishes off the room with flair.

The walls of the gourmet kitchen boast an unusual faux painting technique wherein a base of pale gold paint has been dry brushed with the home’s signature red accent color and resembles ticking. Custom maple cabinetry appears throughout, topped by Madura gold granite counters. The backsplash is done in a mosaic stone and repeated in the custom designed cast stone range hood. The stools at the breakfast bar are done in a classical style and upholstered in red fabric. Providing everything one discerning chef could want, the kitchen also contains a center island which offers a second sink, dishwasher and convenient prep area. Above the island, an ornate cast iron chandelier lends a warm glow to the space.

The family room opens onto both the kitchen and the courtyard pool and boasts a custom built-in entertainment center which holds the television. The seating in this room is formal yet inviting and includes an overstuffed couch in gold chenille and two ornately carved side chairs that are upholstered in a fabric depicting a medieval hunting print. The glass-topped coffee table sits atop a sisal area rug and the dramatic window treatments are done in a small red and gold stripe.

In the stately library, the custom built-in cherry cabinetry is detailed with reeded columns, while a wrought iron candelabra style chandelier hangs from the ornate coffered ceiling. The room also features a dry bar. A stenciled leather chair sits behind the impressive kidney shaped desk. The room offers further seating via two substantial wing chairs upholstered in a gold herringbone fabric and featuring antique brass nail head details. Inspired accents finish this space and include a sisal area rug, window treatments which feature a red and gold paisley fabric and beautiful antique, Asian-inspired panels on the wall behind the seating area.

The home features a courtyard outdoor living area with a swimming pool and a marble paver pool deck. The large pool includes a swimming lane and sun shelf, along with a raised spa that incorporates a trellis to provide both privacy and sun shelter. The outdoor entertainment area includes a summer kitchen that is built around a grand marble fireplace featuring an elegant over-mantle with a decorative frieze. The seating area boasts pre-cast stone columns and iron grillwork between the arches provides an artistic focal point in this relaxed entertaining space.

A separate guest suite can be accessed from the pool courtyard and incorporates a large bedroom, full bath and a morning kitchen. The space has been decorated with British Colonial elements, including a grand plantation bed complete with a glazed cotton, red floral chintz bedspread. An English Regency chest of drawers provides storage, while at the foot of the bed stand a pair of lushly upholstered slipper chairs. The tray ceiling features 12-inch crown moulding details and the window treatments feature raffia cornices over panel draperies. The pineapple lamps placed in the room complete the stamp of hospitality evident in this gracious and inviting guest suite.
