Tropical Elegance

The award-winning residential developer and construction firm of Distinctive Communities, Inc. has built their reputation by offering homes in such prestigious communities as Pelican Bay, Pelican Marsh, Tiburon, Miromar Lakes and Olde Cypress. Their three latest model homes, the Antigua, Tobago and Grand Roy are now ready for viewing at Martinique at the Classics at Lely Resort and Country Club, a new West Indian-inspired village located within the gated Estates at the Classics. The homes stand as testaments to the gracious elegance of the British West Indies Colonial style of architecture invigorated by the tropical flair of the Caribbean.

The spacious models feature floor plans ranging in size from 3,121 square feet to 4,055 square feet in both one-and two-story floor plans. All of the models feature three bedrooms and three baths, and all also feature an additional den and half bath. These villa homes offer standard custom features such as tile roofs, French doors, granite kitchen counter tops, impact-resistant doors and windows and carriage style garage doors. All homes in the Classics feature golf course, lake or preserve views, gated security and on-site amenities including three courses of championship golf.

At 3,526 square feet, the elegant Tobago model, decorated by Freestyle Interiors, offers a library with soaring windows and wood accents, just off the tiled entry foyer. The family room boasts a dramatic coffered ceiling comprised of white beams coupled with stained bead board ceiling insets. A unique rattan paddle fan and the dark hardwood floors are perfect Colonial touches. The room offers views to the outdoor living area and the pool, which features a spill-over spa.

The lofty gourmet kitchen offers custom-designed, painted wood cabinetry in a light tone that contrasts dramatically with the darker hardwood floors and features brushed nickel hardware. The custom cabinetry panels also appear on the range hood, refrigerator and dishwasher. The subway tile backsplash is the perfect compliment to the custom decorative glass and marble mosaic above the cooktop. Its many variations of blue tones mimic the blue accents placed elsewhere throughout the home.

The impressive master suite features a triple window wall, an elegant French door opening to the pool and lanai areas, while the addition of custom moulding throughout the room lends a distinctive look to the space, which also offers his-and- hers walk in closets with custom wood built-ins and a luxurious bath boasting a walk-in shower and separate garden tub.

The 3,121 square foot under air Antigua model, also by Freestyle Interiors, features a grand entry foyer and gallery with a series of three groin-vaulted ceilings that leads to the great room. The tiled gallery floor features accent tiles that correspond to the chandeliers above and an abundant application of crown and detail moulding imparts an air of grandeur to the space that is carried through the entire home. The den impresses further, with richly stained hardwood French doors and built-in maple custom millwork cabinetry. The lighter painted coffered ceiling is accented with darker hardwood and completes the elegant look.

The Island Colonial feel of the home is carried through into the gourmet kitchen which features raised panel maple cabinetry and range hood and under cabinet accent lighting. The granite counter tops are extended to the enlarged island, which is painted in a lighter finish to contrast with the maple cabinets. Windows above the cabinets allow for sunlight and the kitchen also features a full KitchenAid appliance package and a custom-designed tile backsplash that incorporates a brick tile pattern, decorative listello, and mosaic tile.

At 3,910 square feet under air, the Grand Roy, decorated by Vince Muller Interiors, is the largest available model open for viewing.

These unique model homes have been furnished in a rich colonial style. The overstuffed couches and seating placed throughout the models are covered in creamy island hues in keeping with the tropically elegant feel of the homes.

The spacious master bedrooms are flooded with the sunlight that pours through generous windows and elegant French doors, while the master baths are a study in elegance and feature glass-walled showers and garden tubs, in addition to marble counters and lofty ceiling height. The outdoor living areas feature custom pools and spas, lush tropical landscaping, and areas for both lounging and dining.

These models truly represent the very best of Colonial luxury and incorporate stunning details that are unique to Colonial architecture, such as the soaring multi-story vaulted ceilings with transoms that flow between the rooms. Such details are a big leap away from the Mediterranean and Tuscan architecture that has dominated the market recently.

“The heavy Mediterranean look has saturated the marketplace,” says David Sturdyvin, vice president of Distinctive Communities, Inc. “Having listened to our clients, it is apparent that their preferences have changed. This fresh new look brings the tropical feel back where it belongs.”

Each home created by Distinctive Communities is built to the highest level of quality and design, as evidenced in the standard features built into every home. This includes concrete paver driveways, impact windows and doors, lush tropical landscaping, volume ceilings, complete security and entry systems, European wood closet shelving, Kohler bath fixtures, guest suites with private baths and much more. Base prices start at under $800,000 including homesite.
